Something wonderful to be exact, to begin with today is my birthday. Yup, I was born on this day back some years ago in a tiny little fishing village called BellGlades. The hour was 0832 and the year was and is unknown lol. I must say that this could be the very best birthday of my entire life. Why you might ask? Well, the truth is this day has been a long time coming. I’ve/we’ve been praying for something like this for a very long time and now it has come. This thing has happened and now we do rejoice. This wonderful “thing” will be hard to describe but I’ll do my best.
It’s raining outside (not a good day for golf)
Most of you are completely unaware of the fact that we had our own business in the housing industry and it was truly something grand. We were a part of something that just comes along maybe once in a life time. The sacrifices that we made in getting the business off the ground truly were a blissful time in our lives. If you’ve ever owned your own business and had the pleasure of providing a service that left you with the feeling of grandeur knowing that you’ve done something that has made a positive impact on other human beings then you know the whole story. At times just looking into the eyes of employees and customers alike seeing in them the way that you’ve made a difference is something to behold. I will forever cherish the memories of the moments that touched me the most.
Some say that hope is a good thing (maybe the best of things) and no good thing ever dies. Well that would be my hope, and if all that was giving can last forever, then happiness has been attained.
It’s raining outside (must be a great day for ducks lol)
In keeping true to the story I must opine that in the last couple of years as the housing industry has declined, (down here it has literally died lol) and so have we. We lost our business and we are now looking onward and upward searching for the promise of hope. Perhaps I should say that hope has found us. Because “this something wonderful” came in the form of an email sent about three months ago. I had written an email to a former boss of mine that our business had failed due to circumstances beyond our control and that I was searching for work. I thought the email had died in obscurity and would never come back to me with any promise, but I was wrong.
Can you believe it? One week ago my email was answered in this fashion. My former boss had been thinking about me and happens to get into his email (finally lol) and saw my note. He replied to me this: If you are looking for work, then you must come back to work with me. Can you believe that? You would have to know him to understand but he is quite a character. He is a diamond in the rough and old school like you wouldn’t believe, but a better boss I couldn’t ask for. The very first moment we meet I cut him down with a snide little come back that floored him lol, and we’ve been friends every sense.
It’s raining outside (and I think fishing is out of the question lol)
So here it is in a nut shell, he (my former boss) has offered me a “six figure” position as a Consultant for his company. Can you believe that? I’m not sure about you, but in my world that’s “something wonderful” has just happened lol.
I can’t get to personal given the venue here but all the arrangements were made last night and I’m slated to begin my new career at the end of the month. We are sooooooooo excited…… For me to look into the eyes of my islandgirl and see the promise of hope, it makes my heart feel things that can’t be explained. Joy and gladness fill me (as I type the note in the most uncomfortable chair known to man) and my heart does rejoice.
Also I believe that we are going to be able to take some of our family with us. Can you believe that? The wow factor of this is indescribable because of intangibles. I believe I’ve found a new job for J (he’s like a son to me, and KO is his sweetie and she gets to come as well (she is like a daughter to me) in the same town we are moving to. This is unbelievable for sure.
This truly is a message of hope, and one of promise. It sings a song for all to here. Its message can be heard from anywhere saying open wide thy arms and come and see what hope has given us this day.
In closing I must tender to you all another truth. This story has a twist of pain. Our good friends we must leave behind. All of you know of him as Ed and her as Teal. These two people are solely responsible for many of the happy heart beats we’ve felt over the last few years and I will miss them more than can be told. However we will remain great friends and we will talk often. And this I know, we can always come to sea and sit by there bay, (on their pool deck) and listen to Islands as they speak of the tides and what they bring.
And other friends that have made an impression on us and in our lives that will always remain.
My wish is that hope finds you, and finds you all well.
Peace from Buckingham and from my palace no more.
Vic
